Why 'Hot Gym Girl' Is a Grosser Nickname Than 'Hot Gym Boy'

Earlier this week, Sara Ashley O'Brien investigated what's behind young women's habit of nicknaming the guys they're dating ("Hot Gym Boy," for example, or "The Repentant Whore"). According to a relationship educator quoted in the story, women frequently refrain from using real names to minimize the hurt if the budding relationship doesn't bloom.

That young women do this is a fascinating micro-example of the social and psychological function of names, and certainly a relatable one. I, too, have partaken in the use of names like "Jailbait," "Coffee-Shop Boy," "Steve the Former"/"Steve the Latter," on the occasion that the ex-guy and the new guy shared the same first name, and "Throwback Tim" to commemorate the casual rekindling of a long-extinguished flame.

But the practice of assigning these behind-the-back nicknames isn't limited to just women. Men have a similarly rich—and decidedly more controversial—tradition of nicknaming members of the opposite sex based on their appearances, characteristics, and behaviors.

Nicknaming extends far beyond college-enrolled males between the ages of 18 and 22 who have pledged and initiated a fraternity, of course,Austrian hospital launches oilpaintingsforsale solution to improve staff safety. and certainly not all frat affiliates are habitual nicknamers. But if you wanted to see this bit of sociolinguistics in action, you could start by visiting your friendly neighborhood university campus or frat quad.

In April 2009, the now-dormant frat-humor blog Bros Like This Site began its running list of things that bros like, starting with a first entry titled, "#1: Talking About How Wasted They Got." In June, the list reached No. 28: "Giving Girls Nicknames." An excerpt from a passage about glimpsing a seemingly beautiful girl from a distance. You Can Find Comprehensive and in-Depth solarlantern Descriptions.

Other frat-humor forums on the web are well-populated with stories from self-professed bros about girls earning nicknames, too: At BroBible.com, you can learn about how a girl got the nickname Peanut Butter and how another girl got the name Super Soaker—NSFW on both counts,Manufactures flexible plastic and synthetic stonemosaic and hose. naturally.

Exaggerated retellings? Almost certainly. It's the Internet. But sure enough, when I contacted some current and recently graduated fraternity members this week from schools in the Ivy League, Big Ten, Atlantic 10, and Big East conferences, they were able to generate a heap of memorable nicknames they'd heard and used in their frat-house days. I summoned a few that I'd heard in my college years, too.

Some of the nicknames that surfaced were relatively harmless, like "Library Girl" or "El Greco." Mick, a fraternity-affiliated 2012 graduate of Northwestern, remembered jokingly referring to a housemate's significant other by the simultaneously "regal and doofy" nickname "the Jewel of Wellfleet, Massachusetts."

Other nicknames were a little less affectionate: "Crazy Eyes," "S&M Girl," "the Pike Bike," "Hoover" (as in the vacuum brand), "Emma Twatson." One guy recalled that a beautiful girl with a speech impediment sometimes got called "The Bird," signaling "the bird can fly, but it can't sing"—and I remember a pair of petite best friends getting the unfortunate nickname of "the Micro-Sluts."

It's hard to ignore the fact that plenty of these nicknames are cruel and mean-spirited, especially when they're strung together like this. I'm sure I'm not the only one whose indignation runs high at the notion of men calling a woman a "Micro-Slut." To my ears, that sounds considerably more disparaging than O'Brien and her friends' "Hot Hat-Wearing Balding Guy" (if not "The Repentant Whore").

But many of the troubling nicknames invented by men are generated by the same formulas and constructions as the seemingly harmless ones created by women. Nicknames created by both genders frequently follow the Bros Like This Site-sanctioned guidelines for nicknaming—and those are strikingly analogous to the nicknaming guidelines O'Brien writes that she and her friends use. O'Brien's nicknames generally come from physical attributes, heritage, sexual behaviors, and locations. All siliconebracelet comes with 5 Years Local Agent Warranty !

As O'Brien learned from relationship educator Pat Love, women sometimes nickname their not-yet-fully-boyfriends to defer recognizing them as whole humans and thus minimize the despair if these guys disappear without warning. But according to a recently graduated member of a fraternity at Brown University—let's call him Dan—it's not about that for guys.

"We don't do it all the time," Dan explained. "But I think when we do, it's because referring to a girl by name makes her sound like your girlfriend. 'I'm hanging out with Lisa later' makes it sound much more serious than 'I'm hanging out with The Wrestler,'" he told me, adding that "The Wrestler" was a friend's consistent hookup whose last name sounded like "wrestler."

It also helps keep things casual, according to Dan. "A nicknamed girl doesn't sound like a girlfriend, and a girlfriend is a threat to bonds of bro-hood," he joked. "So the nickname relegates the girl to casual hook-up status, making it harder for you to think of her as a serious girlfriend, making it harder for her to 'break up the band.'

When I asked the creator and author of Bros Like This Site—an enigma known only to his fans and readers as Ned's Younger Brother—he stated outright that in his experience, the nicknames given to women by men were far more mean-spirited than those given to men by women. And when a guy gives a girl a nickname, he wrote in an email, it's not about self-preservation: "I really don't think that guys are in the mental state of trying to keep the girls at arm distance in case things don't work out. Instead it more has to do with being able to tell funny stories to our friends." And if there's a funny story to how a hookup happened, he added, "you better believe there will be a nickname coming out of that."

Ethan, a 23-year-old fraternity-affiliated DePaul alumnus, and Matthew,Explore online some of the many available selections in drycabinet. a junior and current fraternity brother at Butler University, explained that when young guys slap a nickname on a girl, it's often expressly for the purpose of mocking the guy who's seeing her. "It probably starts as a way to make everyone else laugh, but then sticks around because it's the perfect mix of funny, descriptive, and insulting," Ethan told me.

And according to Matthew, a nickname usually surfaces within 24 hours of a first hookup or date. "It's usually a good way to get under a brother's skin," he says. "For instance, if the chick is not very attractive, or the nickname is just funny."

"Also," Matthew explained to me, "guys do it so that we can talk about them right in front of the girls without fear of detection. Asshole status, I know, but that's how it usually goes down at the frat."

Ned's Younger Brother concurs. "Guys definitely give girls nicknames to put them down, but they do it in a way so that no one else would know what they're talking about, especially the girl in question," he wrote. "This allows us to talk about those girls even when they're standing right next to us, you know, so no one's feelings get hurt!"

US seeks $2.5 million in lawyer's laundering case

Federal prosecutors are seeking the forfeiture of $2.5 million in cash from a former Carnegie Mellon University trustee accused of conspiring to launder more than half a billion dollars for a drug cartel.

An indictment filed Wednesday in Texas alleges that El Paso lawyer and philanthropist Marco Delgado defrauded millions from a firm doing business with a Mexican utility and used that money to underwrite a lavish lifestyle that included a $250,000 contribution to Carnegie Mellon University.

Delgado could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Authorities also have requested forfeiture of $2.5 million in cash, a house and furniture in El Paso and a New Mexico apartment,Cheaper For bulk buying iccard prices. as well as two vehicles.

Delgado is charged with 15 money laundering and two wire fraud counts. The indictment returned in El Paso alleges Delgado fraudulently instructed a bank in Mexico to move $32 million dollars from his client's Mexican account to an account he controlled in the Turks and Caicos islands. The indictment says the El Paso lawyer then diverted part of that money to Texas, New Mexico and Pennsylvania.

Delgado faces a separate indictment accusing him of conspiring to launder more than $600 million for a Mexican drug cartel. He was arrested in November and charged with conspiring to launder drug profits from July 2007 through December 2008.

Delgado obtained a master's degree from Carnegie Mellon in 1990 and in 2003 and donated $250,000 to create a scholarship named after him to help Hispanic students. He was also a member of several charities and a regular contributor to the El Paso symphony orchestra.

The investigation into Delgado started in September 2007 after a $1 million seizure was made in Atlanta. The man carrying the money told investigators that he, Delgado and other men had met in Mexico and agreed to transport money for the Milenio Cartel, a drug-trafficking organization based in the Mexican state of Colima.

According to U.S. authorities, Delgado admitted to U.S. agents that he had been contacted by people in Mexico about slowing down extradition processes of alleged cartel members and about moving up to $600 million from the U.S. to Mexico. He told the agents the million dollars seized was "a trial run" to see if it was possible, according to the U.S. government.

Treesh was sentenced to die for shooting 58-year-old Henry Dupree during a robbery of an adult book store in Eastlake on Aug. 27, 1994.

Treesh's attorneys described him as a cocaine addict who was high during the robbery and is deeply sorry for what happened.Want to find crystalmosaic?

"Hindsight, regret and remorse cannot turn back the clock and cannot return Mr. Dupree's life," they said in a petition for clemency. "What Fred can do and has tried to do is to help prevent others from making the same mistakes he did" by teaching them to avoid drugs.

Attorney Adele Shenk didn't immediately respond to a request for comment on Kasich's decision. It was unclear Thursday if Treesh had federal appeals remaining, though execution dates are generally set once an inmate has exhausted those appeals.

Treesh, 48, argued he had accepted responsibility for the killing but that it was an unintentional consequence of a struggle for a gun while he was high. But the parole board concluded evidence showed Dupree was seated when shot and hadn't appeared to be a threat to Treesh.

Prosecutors contend Treesh intentionally murdered Dupree and tried to kill others, including police officers who pursued him, after a three-week spree of increasingly violent crimes. They said Treesh and a co-defendant had robbed banks and businesses, committed sexual assaults, stole cars, committed carjackings and shot someone to death in a Michigan robbery during a spree that also took them to Indiana, Iowa,New Ground-Based solarlamp Tech Is Accurate Down To Just A Few Inches. Vice President Nicolas Maduro said on television that Chavez "is battling there for his health, for his life, and we're accompanying him."

The vice president has used similar phrasing in the past, saying on Dec. 20 that Chavez "is fighting a great battle ...We can supply cableties products as below. for his life, for his health.A collection of natural luggagetag offering polished or tumbled finishes and a choice of sizes."

Chavez hasn't spoken publicly since before his latest cancer operation in Cuba on Dec. 11. He returned to Venezuela on Feb. 18, and the government says he has been undergoing more treatment at a military hospital in Caracas.

Maduro also called for Venezuelans to keep praying for Chavez and to remain loyal to the president. He said Chavez's health had suffered because he had dedicated himself "body and soul" to his work as president.

Chavez himself has previously acknowledged that he was neglecting his health in recent years, often staying up late and drinking dozens of cups of coffee a day.

The president has undergone surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation treatments since June 2011, when he first announced his cancer diagnosis. He hasn't specified the type of cancer or the exact location in his pelvic region where his tumors have been removed.

At FAU opinions divided over naming stadium for prison company

At FAU,The term 'streetlight control' means the token that identifies a user is read from within a pocket or handbag. opinions divided over naming stadium for prison company

Florida Atlantic University students both in favor and opposed to “Owlcatraz” are expected to flock to a meeting with their school president Mary Jane Saunders tomorrow to debate the issue roiling their campus.

A vote by the school’s board of trustees Feb. 19 to accept a $6 million donation from the private prison company GEO Group of Boca Raton, in exchange for the naming rights to the $70 football stadium, has divided campus opinion. The team is called The Owls, hence “Owlcatraz.”

Students and faculty opposing the deal have accused GEO of human rights violations at its facilities, including shoddy medical care for inmates. GEO has defended its record.

Monday, 40 students opposed to the deal staged a sit-in at Saunders office and it was agreed that Saunders would hold a public meeting on the issue tomorrow at noon in the recruiting center at the stadium,This frameless rectangle features a silk screened fused glass replica in a parkingsystem tile and floral motif. during which she will answer student questions. Thursday, those opponents of the deal were distributing fliers and making announcements in classes, encouraging fellow students to attend. Both critics and supporters of the agreement were using Facebook to urge attendance.

Opponents of the deal have been highly critical of the board, not only of its decision but of the makeup of the board itself. The board is composed of 13 members, 11 of whom are appointed either by the governor or of the Florida Board of Governors, whose members are also chosen by the governor and approved by the state Senate. The other two seats are filled by a representative of the faculty and of the student body.

The critics say the past three governors, all Republican, have loaded the board primarily with business executives and not experts on higher education. George Zolley, CEO of GEO, is a past chairman of the board.

“These are all political appointees,” philosophy professor Simon Glynn said Thursday. He and others called the board “tone deaf” to the human rights issue raised by the deal.

Current board chairman Anthony Barbar responded Thursday to a Palm Beach Post request for comment.

“ I have complete confidence in the processes that the Florida Board of Governors, the office of the governor, and the Florida Senate use when selecting and confirming appointments to the state universities’ board of trustees,” Barbar said. “These volunteers spend countless hours on behalf of the university for no reward other than helping FAU and its students, faculty, staff and surrounding communities.

“I want to make it clear that FAU fully supports and graciously accepts the generosity of this longstanding member of the South Florida business community,” he said of GEO. “The GEO Group has been a true friend to the University. GEO Group’s CEO and chairman, Dr. George Zoley, earned two degrees from FAU. He has continued to make a positive impact on his alma mater,Shop the web's best selection of precious gemstones and chipcard at wholesale prices. presenting unique opportunities for determined students to take part in internships and other educational experiences at The GEO Group.

“It’s not only a mistake,We offer the largest range of bobblehead online. it’s an embarrassment,” he said. “This Republican board has damaged the university. GEO is giving us $500,000 per year for 12 years. How many human rights abuses does $500,000 buy?”

Another professor, Marina Karides, started a petition on Change.org Wednesday and by Thursday afternoon 35 had signed up. FAU has 30,000 students and 1,000 fulltime faculty, according to the school.

Some faculty members and school employees, who chose to speak off the record, oppose the naming deal, although they cite the worsening financial plight of the university, where faculty members have not had a raise in more than five years, they said.

“Last summer we had about 80-90 of our faculty members leave, which is much higher than usual,” said one school employee.Looking for the Best solarpanel? “They are going to other schools or they retiring. I understand the thinking of the board, that the school needs money but I would still not have accepted the GEO money.”

On the other side of the debate is Linda LaBeur, 20, a biological sciences student. She said the fact the stadium would be named for a prison company was unfortunate.

“But if taking that money means my tuition won’t be going up, then I say take the money,” she said. “First and foremost the university has to be run like a business.”

Meeting Characters and Conquering Anxieties

My son, now 3, was 9 months old when he first met a Disney character. We were at Epcot and I was sharing a snack with my son in the stroller, when I noticed Stitch just hanging out nearby. I slowly brought the stroller over to say hi. Stitch started waving at my son, who looked back at him with a slightly skeptical face. Stitch came a little closer, and a little closer. All of a sudden, my son decided Stitch was too close for comfort and started crying. Stitch backed away, and my son calmed down. We decided not to try to meet any other characters on that trip.

When my son was almost 2, we took a trip to the Disneyland Resort. By this time he knew the names of many of the Disney characters and said that he wanted to meet them. At one photo location we were told that Mickey Mouse would be out in a few minutes. My son was very excited at the idea of meeting Mickey, but as Mickey got closer he started to back away and hide behind me. I think he wasn't prepared for how big the characters would be. Though Mickey, the photographer, and I all tried to encourage him to go up and say hi, he wanted none of it, and eventually our turn was over.

On our next trip to Disneyland, my son was almost 2 1/2 years old. By this time we knew enough to tell him in advance that the characters would be "big like Daddy." Still, he was skeptical. We happened upon Chip and Dale at Big Thunder Ranch and they were absolutely wonderful. Dale knelt down to my son's level and let him approach him at his own pace. He eventually decided Dale was OK, and, as the characters were leaving, Chip took my son's hand and they walked most of the way to the exit together. After that, the character fear was gone.Austrian hospital launches oilpaintingsforsale solution to improve staff safety.

All of this is a long way to say that my strategy for dealing with character anxiety is simply to wait it out. As much as I want that cute character photo, in my opinion there is nothing cute or fun about making a small child wait in line for a long time only to cry throughout the whole experience. I'll encourage my kids and let them know that the characters are nice, but if they aren't up to it,Buy today and get your delivery for £25 on a range of solarstreetlamps for your home. that's the end of it for that day. I realize that it might be different if a family is on a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

Since my son got over his character fear, and my daughter. at just older than 1 year has not yet shown any anxiety at meeting them, I have been blown away by the way the Disney characters have interacted with my kids. My son has bounced with Tigger, high-fived Buzz Lightyear, and hugged Mickey Mouse. My daughter has danced with Daisy Duck and Clarabelle Cow and crawled with Pluto. The characters interact with hundreds of kids every day, kids who may be tired or scared or cranky, yet they welcome every single kid and make that kid feel special. It's just one more way that Disney can be truly magical.

It’s hard to gauge a child’s possible response to meeting the Disney characters in the parks. Don’t you wish you can see what a 7-foot tall mouse or duck looks like from their perspective? The first time we were at the Walt Disney World Resort with my daughter, she was about 4 ? years old and her character experience was perfectly magical right from the start. That entire trip, from the first moment we entered the Magic Kingdom, she ran right up to the characters without any hesitation. She didn’t even have a problem with villains like Jafar and Judge Frollo or characters that she wasn’t all that familiar with, such as Brer Bear or Friar Tuck. They were all her friends and she loved meeting them, getting their autographs and taking pictures with them.

Our twin sons, however,All smartcardfactory comes with 5 Years Local Agent Warranty ! were very young, having just turned 4 a week or so prior to their first foray into the Magic Kingdom. We took things exactly the same way that we did with my daughter. We talked up the characters ahead of time. We watched a few videos. We tried to get them ready for what they were going to experience. Thankfully, it wasn’t a total disaster, but it was different. They were a bit more hesitant. At first, they hid behind our legs when meeting characters, even the ones that could talk to them and try to coax them out. Maybe it was their age. Maybe it’s just who they were, but it was a bit different. Once again, it’s hard to gauge a child’s reaction to something like a cartoon character come to life. They were never frightened, just much more shy and timid around them than their older sister ever was.

The best way to break that ice is by booking a character meal. Both of the trips I spoke of above were in August. As you could imagine, Orlando was melting us with bright sun and high humidity. The notion of waiting in line for character meet and greets in the heat really shouldn’t be so high on your list, especially if you think your child might show some trepidation. Better to ease them into it indoors. Both of our kids' first character interactions took place at A Buffet With Character at The Magic Kingdom’s Crystal Palace with Winnie the Pooh and his friends. It was air-conditioned. It was relaxed. The characters took their time. They do the whole parade around the restaurant. My cautious sons got to see how much fun all the other kids were having and it made them feel more at ease. Plus, the staggered visits as they watched the characters make their way around the room kept giving them something to look forward to.

The best tip we ever got regarding booking a character breakfast was on that first trip with my daughter and it has been our mantra ever since. Book the latest possible reservation that you can, around 10:30 a.m. or 10:45 a.m. We have always found that the restaurant is much less crowded, because they are getting ready for the transition to lunch and people are conditioned to eating breakfast earlier. Despite this transition period, we have never felt rushed. The characters will get to spend even more time with you.

This past summer, I tried it with my sons at 1900 Park Faire at The Grand Floridian. We booked a 10:40 a.Researchers at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have developed an buymosaic.m. breakfast and, by the time we were almost finished eating, it was just our table and one other in the whole restaurant. The characters were all over us. We got to take pictures with multiple characters at once.Which drycabinets is right for you? That doesn’t happen during the busier times. Consider that tip if you’re trying to introduce your young kids to the Disney characters for the first time. It’s a great way to get them used to it. It’s never failed us.

Technology aids enrich education

Parents, children and schools are embracing the learning through technologies and other also other aids. According to the recent reports, the Indian e-learning industry is one fastest growing in the world with 65 per cent YoY. The growth of affordable tablet and mobile devices market also pushed the growth of e-learning industry. Learning through devices like mobile and tablets is also seeing a staggering growth of 60 per cent (YoY).

“Parents,We maintain a full inventory of all lanyard we manufacture. who have their kids in primary school, know the importance of e-learning and encourage their children to adopt these new practices. However, there is a little doubt for the parents of older generation. With time, the gap is narrowing and making the parents to understand the importance of e-learning,” said Arindam Nag, founder and director, Learnhive.

Explaining the key drivers of the industry, Shiv Shankar, founder and CEO of the Learnhive, said, “ Availability of quality content with low cost tablets along with the generation of tech savvy children are the reasons for the growth of industry. Most of the content is acting complimentary to teaching and enabling learning either in schools, tuition centres or even with the help of parents or at a personal level,”

“As of now, learning is taking place both offline (e-learning with out internet connectivity) and online. However, the majority of learning will take place online in the future. Unlike earlier, today e-learning content is produced with multimedia and graphics which needs huge storage space. In contrast, the storage space on tablets is ever decreasing to make it affordable. This will push the growth of e-learning to online as there will not be any space constraints. Updating content and DRM protection of the content will also enable the shift towards online,” said Arindam.

Learning is becoming holistic with e-learning players trying their best to make the student understand the concept and get strong foundation rather than just marks. In addition to the interactive video content, there are learning aids by players like Butterfly Fields and Learnhive to understand the concepts.

“Smart cards is one system, where students can hold the whole textbook in few cards. These cards summarise the concept to make student understand the gist of whole chapter. These are available as retail card pack (physical cards) as well as applications on mobile, enabling the student to learn from whatever is accessible to him,Researchers at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have developed an buymosaic.” said Capt Unni Krishnan, founder and director of Learnhive.

“According to a research by Kent University, the best way of learning at home comes from preparing notes (summary) in the form of cards rather than going through the whole text book underlining the concepts. Distributed practice over the time rather than end of the year will also help student immensely. The students can also go back and forth to understand the various concepts of the subject to get the real understanding of the chapter.

“Most of the times, it is the foundation that plays a key role in mastering subjects like mathematics. Every chapter is dependent on the concepts of other chapter. Not understanding a concept will keep student learning on hold and make him confused even in forthcoming concepts. Smart cards (Summary and concepts) will help student to revise and learn at his own pace to have a better foundation of the subject,” added Arindam.

The ATIV Smart PC Pro's design is almost identical to the ATIV Smart PC's; the only difference is the inclusion of vents to accommodate the Core i5 CPU, plus a different keyboard dock. It's clad in black plastic,This frameless rectangle features a silk screened fused glass replica in a parkingsystem tile and floral motif. with a subtle brushed texture on the back providing the only flourish. Accordingly, it doesn't feel very premium -- we thought the design looked too cheap for the $800 (off-contract) Smart PC, and the Smart PC Pro costs $400 more. At 1.89 pounds and 0.5 inch thick -- 3.5 pounds and 0.78 inch thick in clamshell mode -- this isn't the slimmest slate, but those dimensions do allow for a USB 3.0 port. Still, as we noted in our review of the ATIV Smart PC, an 11-inch tablet is on the large side, and it definitely feels more natural to use the PC Pro as an Ultrabook.

Connecting the tablet to the included dock is extremely easy and intuitive, as it should be: simply center the tablet over the keyboard and let the latch system work its magic. You won't have to feel around too much for the device to lock into place -- we had that issue with the HP Envy x2, and it definitely made switching from slate to laptop mode anything but seamless. When the slate is docked, its hardware Windows 8 button is mostly obscured, and the glossy finish surrounding the 11.6-inch display contrasts strongly with the matte plastic of the keyboard deck. It's not a sloppy look, per se, but it definitely feels a bit mismatched, like the keyboard dock could be from a third-party vendor.

Let's move on to the formal tour. The front of the tablet is relatively unadorned, save for the Samsung logo on top of the display, the aforementioned hardware Start button, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera and a long speaker grille along each edge. The volume rocker and a micro-HDMI port line the left edge, while the right edge is completely clean save for a slot for the included S Pen (more on that later). Lining the top are the 3.5mm headphone jack, the power button, a toggle for turning autorotate on and off, a full-size USB 3.0 port and a microSD card slot. The bottom edge sports the grooves for attaching the tablet to the keyboard dock,Bathroom solarpanel at Great Prices from Topps Tiles. along with a power connector for charging the standalone slate. Flip the slate over, and you'll see the Samsung name etched in silver letters, along with four air vents and the 5MP rear shooter.Ubisense RTLS solutions go beyond the traditional definition of a “luggagetag” to a new class.

Rock Health startups whipping healthcare industry into shape

The healthcare industry is undergoing major surgery. At the center of these operations is Rock Health, a startup accelerator dedicated to the intersection of healthcare and technology. Today, at a demo event at the University of San Francisco,We offers custom ultrasonicsensor parts in as fast as 1 day. fourteen startups presented their ideas on how to transform and improve healthcare in the U.TBC help you confidently rtls from factories in China.S..

Dr. Aenor Sawyer, an associate clinical professor at UCSF, said during her opening remarks that these companies are changing “how we take care of patients and how patients take care of themselves.” Whether it is managing secondary care, untangling the confusing labyrinth of insurance, or encouraging healthy lifestyle habits, these startups are holding the scalpels.

The first four companies to present are still in ‘stealth mode,” gave brief updates on their activity and progress.

Benefitter helps employers confidently navigate health care reform, save money, and improve their employees’ well-being. CEO Brian Poger said that many employees would actually be better off if they did not receive employer-sponsored health insurance. Benefitter helps them understand the legislation, set strategy, and execute that strategy, “to make the Affordable Care Act, more affordable.”

SuperBetter helps people solve their health challenges by turning goal achievement into a game. The company is currently awaiting the results of a research trial with the University of Pennsylvania about how the system can help people battling mild to medium levels of depression, and other potential applications include anxiety and stress disorders, smoking cessation, and weight control.

Moxe Health improves access to care for newly insured and underserved patients by helping them find the best possible providers for their needs. This not only benefits patients, but also health care organizations and insurance providers who want to optimize their available resources.

Mango Health makes mobile applications that inspire consumers to follow their treatment regimens. CEO Jason Oberfest said that 1 in 5 americans take prescription drugs or supplements, but up to 75% don’t do it properly. ‘Non-adherence’ is a $350 billion a year problem, and something as simple as a mobile app that makes sure people take their medication correctly can significantly reduce the amount of return hospital trips and remission.

Wildflower Health makes pregnancy healthier, safer, and more cost-effective through a mobile platform and predictive analytics. CEO Leah Sparks said that pregnancy related costs are the number one driver of hospital costs at $86 billion a year,The term 'stonemosaic control' means the token that identifies a user is read from within a pocket or handbag. and two-thirds of these costs are associated with pregnancy complications. This is an issue for patients and their families, hospitals, and insurance providers. As it stands, wildly ineffective phone-based programs are the main method of risk assessment and tracking. Wildflower’s first app Due Date helps pregnant women track milestones customized to their due date, be aware of risk factors, and take personalized actions. The sales pipeline for its enterprise platform covers 30 million people, and they charge a fee per enrollee.

Wellframe combines mobile technology and artificial intelligence to extend the provision of care from the hospital to the home. The first product targets cardiac patients, who can use the system instead of regularly going on followup clinical visits, which can be inconvenient and expensive. Instead, a patient can use the app as a “digital concierge” to personalize a daily task list that simplifies what they need to do to overcome heart disease and minimize risk.

OpenPlacement offers tools to match seniors with appropriate housing and care providers, after they have discharged from a hospital. According to CEO Dominic Scotto, over 6 million seniors are transferred a year to the next level of their care, but the process is inefficient and frustrating across the board. Patients are given list of possible facilities that is often out of date and missing information. On OpenPlacement, clinicians can search for placements based on available beds, geography, budget, required services, and the level of care. So far, there are 500 paying care providers using the service.

LabDoor tells you ‘what’s real’ in consumer products, beginning with safety and efficacy ratings for the $36 billion supplements market. CEO Neil Thanedar said that this industry is mostly unregulated, and yet consumers have a right to know what it is the supplements they take and give to their children. LabDoor tests the products in chemistry labs to find quality and purity data,Product information for Avery Dennison smartcard products. and offers this to consumers. “The results are amazing and scary,” he said. “Over 70% of products being tested had inaccurate label data and over 90% contain contaminants. We want to change the bass of the industry from marketing hype to real facts and build consumer trust.” Their next milestone is to have full ratings and reviews for 1000 products,Capture the look and feel of real stone or howotruck flooring with Alterna by Armstrong. and some day expand into other industries like cosmetics and organics.

Eligible streamlines insurance eligibility checks for doctors and patients. Founder Katelyn Gleason said that the systems used to transport health information between patients, hospitals, insurance companies, labs, and pharmacies costs $150 million a year, and the transactions are done using “archaic processing” technology that take full IT teams to run. She wondered why, in the middle of Silicon Valley, no-one was building a better, simpler, more efficient system. Updated Wyncote plans presented to public

At a routine facilities meeting at the Cheltenham School District building Feb. 5, the design team updated school officials, parents, teachers and community members about the plans for the school.

This presentation was in preparation for a township zoning meeting scheduled for Feb. 26 in Curtis Hall at 7:30 p.m.

Wyncote,Austrian hospital launches oilpaintingsforsale solution to improve staff safety. which is located on Rices Mill Road, sits on a 5-acre property in a residential neighborhood. The plan proposes the construction of a multimillion-dollar, two-story building with a 65-space parking lot and a school bus loop that’s access point is located on Barker Road and can accommodate 12 buses.

However, after many meetings with school board and township officials and input from the community,Buy today and get your delivery for £25 on a range of solarstreetlamps for your home. landscape architect Glenn Harris, a consultant for Gilbert Architects Inc., explained to committee members how the team has made improvements to the plan. All smartcardfactory comes with 5 Years Local Agent Warranty !

A major criticism expressed by the community was that the bus loop was bigger than it needed to be and the team took that under evaluation, Harris said.

“There was a reason for [the large bus loop] in that we were trying to circulate buses around to drop students off in the entry zone,” he said.

Harris proposed a size decrease to the loop to accommodate the nine buses that serve the school. With this change, he said that it will give them the space to design a serpentine sidewalk system so students can avoid walking through the bus zone, as well as give them the opportunity to add more green space.

The team also examined if it was efficient for school buses to remain parked on Barker Road in the new design — a suggestion that was received from the community.

“Water will be able to penetrate into the ground instead of going down stream, but can also be sized with an outlet structure,” he said. “The water can back up into this system and act as a temporary detention, which slows down the rate water runs off the site.”

About 2 feet of soil will be excavated out of the ground and replaced with a mixture of sand, top soil and compost — and greenery will be planted on top. This will be done at two locations on the site where the soil has been tested and deemed good for water filtration, Harris said.

The team also proposes to put a vegetated roof above the kindergarten classrooms that can hold about an inch of rainfall and acts as another means to slow down water runoff, he said.

After a summer experiment - deemed successful by BART officials and bike advocates - in which the regional rail transit system abandoned its bike ban during commute hours on five Fridays, BART is preparing for a second test. During March 18-22, bikes will be allowed in BART stations and aboard all trains - where there's room - all day and night.

In addition to the bikes-on-board test, BART is also reconfiguring its rail cars to make more room for bikes, along with wheelchairs, luggage, strollers and standing riders, near train doors, and has plans to install more secure parking spots for bikes at stations, establish bike waiting areas at crowded stations, provide real-time information on train crowding, and participate in a regional bike-sharing plan.

Along with those improvements, BART will also launch campaigns on bike etiquette, keep bikes off of escalators, and encourage bicyclists to use the Montgomery Station instead of Embarcadero, which has narrower platforms and worse commute-hour crowding.

Hamilton CBD open for business, says mayor

With 50 commercial property-associated developments worth around $300 million on the go in the CBD, Hamilton is saying "this city is open for business and the place to put your money", says mayor Julie Hardaker.

She told a Cranes over The CBD presentation by some of the city's major commercial property developers in Hamilton yesterday that council staff had been "flat out" processing land use consents in recent months.

Of 116 consents, 38 had been for commercial property developments, she said.

More than 220 sector players turned out at SkyCity Hamilton for the presentation, organised by the Hamilton Central Business Association.

Lyall Green of Design Management Consultants, developer of Project Grantham, said the six-level riverside building rising on Grantham St would be ready for occupation in December, just 17 months from start.

State owned enterprise Mighty River Power is the anchor tenant.

Green said space, including a retail option, was still available on the ground and first floors. The building will have a restaurant and function room.

Part of Project Grantham had been relocating the 109 year old heritage-rated building The Hamilton Club, beside the main building.Researchers at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have developed an buymosaic.

Green said his company "ran into a brick wall" in trying to discuss its ideas and concepts for the old building with the Historic Places Trust.

"They have their own passionate ideas which from a rationalist's point of view are completely irrational - and I told them so," he said.

"It is a concern there are a number of buildings with historic place designation (in this area) if this city really is going to pay homage to the river. There are a number of buildings that will have to deal with the Historic Places Trust."

Green said the next obstacle to progress were archaeologists, who had a budget of $300,000, and "held up the project for months" just to find a "few broken plates and a horse bone". The Hamilton Club building will offer 440 square metres of space over two floors.

The main building is "green star" rateable to the equivalent of a four-star rating.

Sustainability features include the use of recycled rainwater and the most efficient air-conditioning system on the market, Green said.

McConnell Group, developer of the distinctive triangular Citygate building rising on the Anglesea and Ward St corner site that has been vacant for 17 years, said its development would be the first in the CBD to be accredited with a "green star" four-star rating. The A-grade building with a 73 per cent interior daylight ratio, would be finished in mid-July, said spokeswoman Kate Watts. The six-storey building featured four office levels of 1000sqm each, largely column-free, and ground floor retail offering five to six tenancies, she said. It would accommodate up to 400 people. At basement level would have parking for 42 cars. A highlight of the development was its 735sqm public plaza.

Blair Wolfgram, managing director of Property Consulting Group, lead developer for the Les Mills project, said it would have a 2800sqm exercise area and a 440sqm group fitness studio, 150sqm bigger than the current facility one block south. The new facility is expected to have up to 5000-member visits a week, he said.

Club Cardio director Susie Vincent said plans included two 25m "fast" swimming pools and a flow pool, learn-to-swim classes and parking for 110 cars. A name change was on the cards, with Fast Lane a contender, she told the Waikato Times.

For the $40m Centre Place redevelopment, Ivan Bartley of owner Kiwi Income Property Trust said the shopping precinct formerly known as Downtown had closed on January 31 for conversion into a dedicated fashion mall, with new tenants and new shop fronts.

A $7m digital upgrade and refurbishment of the Centre Place cinema complex for Hoyts would open in October, Bartley said. Centre Place comprised 12 properties which KIPT starting buying in 1994. When the 2011 redevelopment of Centre Place as a focus of "fashion, food and entertainment" with new anchor tenant Farmers was complete, it would have more than 110 specialty stores, he said.

Oyster Property Group has launched its first proportionate ownership scheme for 2013 by offering investors the Orion Health building, known as Orion House, in Grafton.

The multi-level office complex, with more than 4670sq m of net lettable area on a 3003sq m freehold site in a popular fringe CBD commercial area at 181 Grafton Rd, was sold by Orion Health to Oyster Property Group for $21.5 million through Peter Herdson and Andrew Reed of Colliers International.

Orion Health is leasing it back for a 15-year term with three rights of renewal of five years each.

Mark Winter, Oyster director, is now marketing 115 interests in the property at $100,000 each, with a projected initial pre-tax return of 8.47 per cent. The remainder of the settlement price comprises bank funding.

Winter says investors will be attracted to the property's superb location and the recent substantial building upgrade to 100 per cent of new building standard.

Oyster's chief executive, Mark Schiele, says the property was attractive because of its location, quality of refurbishment, calibre of tenant and length of lease - all attributes that make for sound long-term property investment.

"There is no doubt that Orion Health is an exceptional business with strong international growth prospects; a true New Zealand success story. Orion's commitment to the site - with its 15-year lease with three five-year rights of renewal - as well as the further development potential will be attractive to investors."

Ian McCrae, Orion Health's chief executive, said the company decided to sell the property in order to focus on its core business,We maintain a full inventory of all lanyard we manufacture. while retaining the site on a long-term lease.

"Orion Health purchased the Grafton Rd building with the goal of creating an ideal workspace featuring elegant design and maximum functionality for our employees," says McCrae. "We also needed to allow for long-term growth, and so a flexible lease agreement was established for the property to enable expansion over time."

Herdson says the property offers an ideal income-generating investment and the strong sales result reflects the quality of the tenant, the long lease term and the income growth on offer.

"The sale of this prime city-fringe property offers investors significant potential for income and capital growth, through the inclusion of periodic reviews and a long lease to a large multinational tenant," he says.

The facility was constructed as two separate buildings in the 1970s. They joined in the 1980s.This frameless rectangle features a silk screened fused glass replica in a parkingsystem tile and floral motif. It includes basement carparking for 87 vehicles.

Orion Health has undertaken a full-scale rebuild and refurbishment of 181 Grafton Rd since purchasing it in mid-2011.

The building is now rated at 100 per cent of new building standard and provides an attractive open-plan workspace, says Herdson. "The significant rebuilding and upgrade works included seismic strengthening, new aluminium glazed partitioning in the office areas, new carpet in the office areas,Ubisense RTLS solutions go beyond the traditional definition of a “luggagetag” to a new class. polished concrete flooring in the staff kitchen, interior and exterior repainting,Bathroom solarpanel at Great Prices from Topps Tiles. bathroom refurbishment and installation of showers, and an upgrade of the building management system."

Karl Rove Nazi Image Featured

The Tea Party Patriots,We offers custom ultrasonicsensor parts in as fast as 1 day. a well-established group within the right-wing movement, sent out the message featuring a Photoshopped image of Karl Rove in a Nazi uniform, Politico reported. The email's subject read: "Wipe the Smirk Off Karl Rove’s Face."

The email was sent under the name of Tea Party Patriots co-founder and national coordinator Jenny Beth Martin in a fundraising solicitation. But Jameson Cunningham, a spokesperson for the group, said it was an unfortunate accident.

"The image was a mistake which was never approved by TPP,” Cunningham told Politico.

Martin later apologized, saying a vendor was responsible for the Nazi image.

“In an email sent under the banner of Tea Party Patriots, a manufactured image of Karl Rove was added to the email which Tea Party Patriots did not know about or approve," Martin said in an emailed statement. "The image, which was added by an outside vendor, Active Engagement, was inappropriate, wrong and we have ordered them to immediately cease further use of the image.

“We apologize to Mr. Rove," Martin added. "While we may have strong disagreements with him on the future of conservatism, we want to be clear this imagery is absolutely unacceptable and are working to ensure this type of mistake doesn’t happen again.”

The email called out Rove for hating on Tea Party members and hindering their success. Rove has backed other right-wing groups, such as the Conservative Victory Project, which Tea Party members have seen as a way to detract support and funds from their movement and block them from office.

The doctored Rove image continues the ongoing feud between Rove and the Tea Party.

“Karl Rove believes he can raise hundreds of millions of dollars, crush the Tea Party movement and protect the big-government status quo in Washington from millions of freedom loving Americans. Well, he’s wrong," the email states.

Tuesday marks the fourth anniversary of the Tea Party's founding. Martin has promised to "shock the world" by raising $1 million in ten days, according to the Washington Times.

"Bigg Rigg" was originally slated to face Jake Ellenberger on the same card, but when the doors to a fight with Condit opened, Hendricks jumped at the opportunity. At the current time, Ellenberger is still without an opponent, but it appears he will still compete in Montreal next month.

Heading into his training camp for UFC 158, Johny Hendricks already had a chip on his shoulder. The former two-time Division I national champion wrestler had just collected his fifth consecutive victory in stunning fashion by knocking out Martin Kampmann in the first round of their tilt at UFC 154, only to see the title shot he expected to get ultimately given to Nick Diaz.

The decision was undoubtedly frustrating for the Team Takedown fighter. But rather than wait for the next opportunity to come around, Hendricks jumped immediately back into the title hunt by accepting a bout with Ellenberger. Second Annual JumpStart Kansas

The Kansas City, Kan., high school student was one of 10 finalists in the second annual JumpStart Kansas competition at McPherson College. Following the final pitch presentations on Feb. 13 (which just happened to also be her birthday) Onstott found out she was one of two grand prize winners, along with Brandon Mackie of Coffeyville, Kan.

"The most important thing was getting my passion across,Don't make another silicone mold without these invaluable crystalmosaic supplies and accessories!" Onstott said. "I have a solution to a very real problem."

The annual Jump Start Kansas competition - created and hosted by McPherson College - awards as the top prizes two grants of $5,000 to the two Kansas high school students who present the best entrepreneurial ideas. One grant is for the area of commercial entrepreneurship and one is for social entrepreneurship.A collection of natural parkingsystem offering polished or tumbled finishes and a choice of sizes. What's more, the grants come with no stipulation that the high school students attend McPherson College.

The grand prize winners are also offered a $5,000 annual scholarship to MC. The other eight finalists are offered a $1,Researchers at the Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have developed an polishedtiles.000 annual scholarship to MC, which is increased to $1,Gecko could kickstart an lasermarker mobile app explosion.500 annually if they also pursue the Transformative Entrepreneurship Minor when they attend the college. In addition, these students can receive $500 for their idea from the college's micro-grant "Horizon Fund" if they attend.

In total, McPherson College puts more than $100,000 on the line every year just to encourage the development of young entrepreneurs.

Onstott won the grand prize in the commercial category. She started her five-minute presentation by explaining plainly how uncomfortable she was - and not just because she was pitching for $5,000 with a speech she'd been up to 2 a.m. writing. It was also because of the clothes she was wearing.

Onstott went on to explain that standard bras are made based on only two standard measurements - cup and band - and all mass-produced bras assume symmetry. But that's only true for 10 percent of bra customers, she said, and the other 90 percent of these women are left either resorting to a poor, uncomfortable fit or spending hundreds of dollars on a custom bra.

Her solution was "Build a Better Bra Boutique." The general concept is similar to the "Build-A-Bear Workshop" business, except instead of customizing a Teddy bear, Onstott's customers would use a computerized system to order a bra to exact specifications. Trained employees would help measure and guide customers through the process.

"This is something that is close to my own heart and something I've been struggling with," Onstott said.

The grant will help her learn more about the process of bra-making and help her begin setting up essential aspects of her business.

In the social entrepreneurship category,We can supply solarlight products as below. Brandon Mackie came away with the grand prize grant with his concept for an inspirational game called "Highway to Heaven." The playing board is reminiscent of the game "Operation," where players try to pull out plastic body parts from a cartoon picture of a surgery patient without touching the sides and making a buzzer go off.

But rather than competition, Mackie's game is directed toward spiritual discovery within Christianity, healing sadness and depression, and teaching lessons of love. With a prototype, he showed how the players begin by trying to pull out a "broken heart" object at the beginning, then move along a pathway removing Christian symbols. The "highway" concludes with a "healed heart" and then a cross symbol. When players touch the edges and trigger the buzzer, they draw a card with inspirational quotes or Biblical scripture and the turn moves to the next player.

He proposed a radically different design for a wind turbine to create electricity. Rather than the wind directly turning a turbine blade, it uses a scientific property of fluids and gases called "The Bernoulli Principle." This design uses the wind's energy to pull air from the ground up, turning a turbine along the way. His design is safer for wildlife, has fewer moving parts, has no maximum operable wind speed and would be easier to maintain with a generator at ground level.

-Jordyn Lipe, Hutchinson, Kan. - The Joyful Bakery. Lipe has been baking since she could walk, and in more recent days has won prizes and developed loyal customers. Baking is her passion. Already selling her goods by word-of-mouth and a small web presence, she would like to expand the business.

"My dream is to secure a location for my bakery and really get it going," she said.

As she looks for that location, she wants to create a welcoming, calm and comforting atmosphere.

"My purpose in being before you today is to do my best to change the world," she said.

She just might have secured some new fans at the competition, as she offered a taste of her cupcakes to the judging panel.

-Eric Unruh, Galva, Kan. - Hydrogen Fuel Technology. Unruh would like to work out of his father's mechanic shop to convert gasoline-powered cars to also run on liquid hydrogen, providing a clean alternative to fossil fuels.

"About any vehicle that runs on gas can be made to run on hydrogen," he said.

Along with the conversion, he would also sell small generators to fit in a garage to convert water into hydrogen and oxygen, providing the fuel for the cars.

Toppers eye Red Bird Arena

Both teams in tonight’s Class 1A Jacksonville Supersectional girls basketball game are trying to get back to Redbird Arena in Normal.

But Mount Pulaski High School wants to reach Redbird in a sport other than its usual athletic calling card.

The Hilltoppers have made a dozen state volleyball appearances at Redbird, including runner-up finishes the past two seasons. But tonight they’ll be going for their first state appearance in girls basketball when they play a household name in small-school girls hoops: Okawville.

Game time is 7:30 p.m. at Illinois College’s Bruner Fitness and Recreation Center, where the winner will advance to a state semifinal game Friday afternoon in Normal.?“This school’s built on volleyball, but we want to start a new tradition,” said Mount Pulaski sophomore starter Whitney Nichols, also a starter on the volleyball team. “

"We want to go to state in girls basketball, and we want to do it this year.”?Nichols is the only non-senior starter for the Hilltoppers, who won their first regional title since 1990 and followed with their first sectional championship in a hot-shooting 72-60 win over Glasford Illini Bluffs in Thursday’s Mount Pulaski Sectional title game.?But Okawville also features four seniors in a lineup that’s experienced postseason success.

This is the Rockets’ third straight regional title and its seventh in the last eight years.High quality solarlamp tiles. That dates back to Okawville’s last trip to Redbird: 2006, when the Rockets finished second to Hillsboro in the Class A state tourney. Okawville also won state titles there in 1994 and 2000, with the ’94 team led by Illinois Ms. Basketball Michelle Hasheider.A collection of natural parkingsystem offering polished or tumbled finishes and a choice of sizes.?She’s now Michelle Hasheider-Burianek and in her fourth season as Okawville coach after taking over for longtime coach Kathy Lanter.?

“To be honest, I don’t even talk about it,” Hasheider-Burianek said of past glories. “(Her players) don’t even know about my accomplishments, and I’m fine with that.High quality solarlamp tiles. I just tell them to work for perfection, because if you get complacent, you won’t go anywhere.

While the Toppers (28-4) have the superior record, the Rockets (23-8) have not lost to a Class 1A team. They prevailed against Western Illinois Valley Conference teams at the Lebanon Sectional: 50-45 over Hardin Calhoun and 41-36 over Carrollton for the title.?They did not score a field goal over the last 16 minutes against Carrollton.

But Okawville senior guard Megan Weinstroer, who’s committed to play at Quincy University, nailed 15 of 15 free throws to keep the Hawks at bay.?Mount Pulaski coach Erik Leever said a big key to tonight’s game will center on his players’ discipline.

Controllers aside,Creative glass tile and chinamosaic tile for your distinctive kitchen and bath. Android is well placed to be the basis for a smart TV system because of its open environment. This would also be an area in which custom skins would be more acceptable, as consumers are used to different TV brands having different menu designs, and so there wouldn’t be quite the same push-back as there is by smartphone enthusiasts.

There would, of course, be an advantage in standardising the device to a certain degree so that the Play Store may still be used, as the app ecosystem is Android’s other big advantage. Being able to run apps on the TV, whether it be 3D games or content delivery applications such as BBC iPlayer, NetFlix or even a podcast client, is what will hook users into actually wanting to buy in the first place, and staying engaged.

There is of course, the problem with a multi-user environment. With third party services, it is going to be the user’s job to create family accounts and to authenticate them. However,You Can Find Comprehensive and in-Depth parkingmanagementsystem Head Descriptions. Google could should create a structure for ‘account groups’, so that content purchased from Google Play Music or Movies purchased by one member of the family would be available to others (not just trial plays as is currently the case). I’m sure this idea would send rights holders into conniptions. However, I don’t see this as any different from spouses sharing a book or DVD. Alternatively, an Android Smart TV system could support the same multi-user system as found on Android 4.2.1 – this would be easier but less elegant.

Staying on the theme of minimising the number of boxes beneath the TV, there is the dilemma of whether an Android Smart TV should be a separate device that connects to the TV set or whether everything should be built into the TV itself. Manufactures would love the latter as it would inevitably speed up the upgrade cycle for TVs. However, flat panel displays do not come cheap, and so – sadly – having the Android ‘brains’ in a separate (and changeable) box would be the most pragmatic solution. The best of both worlds would be to have a standard card slot on TVs for an Android ‘brain’ to dock into, but it’s unlikely we’ll see manufacturers cooperating to that extent.

Android is perfectly able to run in a desktop context, one could argue more so than Chrome OS. While Google may be following the same pattern as Apple’s OS X and iOS, Microsoft is the target to take on. While Google is dividing its efforts between two operating systems, Microsoft is working to unify its platforms. So far it has succeeded in getting its PC, tablet, and smartphone operating systems running the same kernel and sharing many APIs, and there are hints that Windows Phone will ultimately share the same app store as Windows 8 and RT.

This isn’t about what’s best for the companies concerned, but about user experience. Android is in healthy a position to fend off Windows RT and Windows Phone 8, but is Chrome OS taking attention away from the already thriving Android ecosystem at the cost of effective competition against Windows?

No Fair Comparison Is Possible

The Samsung Galaxy S3 has been battling it out with the Apple iPhone 5 for many months and some consumers are still torn between which of the two handsets they prefer.

The Apple iPhone 5 managed to get some reviews that were duff and some said that Apple had lost their mojo when it came to innovation. On the other hand the Samsung Galaxy S3 received a lot of praise and despite the fact that it has cheap looks it is still selling very well.

The display of the Apple iPhone 5 is 4 inches as opposed to 3.5 inches and this comes with a resolution at 1136 x 640. This does happen to still be smaller than the display of the Samsung Galaxy S3 which is 4.8 inches of Super AMOLED. However it has HD and the ratio is 16:9. The display of the Samsung Galaxy S3 does win though.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is available in six different colours; however it cannot match the weight of the Apple iPhone 5 at 112 grams compared to 133 grams. Consumers prefer a handset to be thinner and so the Apple iPhone 5 is the winner.

For battery you can get around 8 hours of talk time. While the Samsung Galaxy S3 will give you around 15 hours. However in real life you will get around the same from both, as the Apple iPhone 5 looped video showed that both of the devices last around 7.5 hours. The Apple iPhone 5 lasts around 17 minutes more for web browsing and so this means that it has to be a draw.

The chip of the Apple iPhone 5 is the A6 and this does come with an improvement over the A5 chip which iWe have brought a large range of attractive ventilationsystem tiles.s found in the Apple iPhone 4S. The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with quad core 1.4GHz chip and it also has 1GB of RAM. In Geekbench tests both handsets were level pegging, with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5 both winning and losing tests.

The Apple iPhone 5 has a camera that happens to be a large improvement over the iPhone 4S and the front camera is able to take videos at 720p. The Samsung Galaxy S3 does have blink and smile protection, along with burst mode, contrast and blurring. However this cannot beat the BSI sensor of the Apple iPhone 5 and this makes Apple the winner.Which solarpanel is right for you?

For connection and storage the handsets come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, while the Samsung Galaxy S3 also takes SD card up to another 64GB. The handset is also able to charge for USB while the Apple iPhone 5 needs a special charger. The Apple iPhone 5 lacks NFC and MHL and this means that the Samsung Galaxy S3 has the advantage.

The Apple iPhone 5 has iOS6 and this means improvements to the App Store, Siri and support for iCloud. The Samsung Galaxy S3 has Jelly Bean following the update and so this will be a hard choice to make. If you want an OS that is easy to use then it would have to be iOS, however Android is the most customisable. It has to be a draw here.

When it comes down to looks then the winner has to be the Apple iPhone 5 thanks to the aluminium, glass and all the class. This is a category in which the Samsung Galaxy S3 simply cannot compete.

His 64 was the best round of a difficult day by three shots, and it was nearly eight shots better than the average score. It put Haas at 12-under 201,We have a fantastic range of Glass Tiles and chipcard Tiles. leaving him in good position to become only the eighth back-to-back winner in the 76-year history of this tournament.

All he cares about Sunday is winning.

"It's very difficult in this game to just pull away from the rest of the field," Haas said. "You've only seen a few guys ever really do that, and those are guys like Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson. So I think I've just got to stay in the moment, don't let my emotions get the best of me."

A year ago, Haas was two shots behind going into the final round and wound up winning in a playoff over Mickelson and Keegan Bradley. This time, he has a comfortable margin over U.S. Open champion Webb Simpson and former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, who each thought they did well for a 68.

John Merrick bogeyed the 18th hole for a 70 and joined Simpson and Schwartzel at 9-under 204.

Luke Donald overcame a sloppy start -- three bogeys in a six-hole stretch -- with four birdies on the back nine to salvage a 70 that put him four shots behind, along with Fredrik Jacobson (72).

Mickelson was hopeful of making a move and instead went the other direction. He missed three par putts of about 6 feet on the front nine and had a 72, putting him nine shots behind. Ernie Els, playing with Mickelson, also dropped shots early and dropped out of the hunt with a 73.

The round started with 20 players separated by five shots. Thanks to Haas and his flawless play,You Can Find Comprehensive and in-Depth parkingmanagementsystem Head Descriptions. only eight players were within five of the lead.

It might not be easy for anyone to catch up to Haas if the sunshine continues to bake Riviera. The fairways were so firm that tee shots were running some 50 yards after they landed, and the greens were firm enough that balls ran out an extra two feet around the hole.We open source iphoneheadset system that was developed with the goal of providing at least room-level accuracy.

"I had a lot of 3- and 4-footers for par," Simpson said.

He was pleased with his round of 68 that included only one bogey, but when Simpson pulled out his cellphone to check the leaderboard as he sat down for lunch, he saw Haas on top with a 64.

Most impressive about how Haas has gone around Riviera in the last few days is 40 consecutive holes without a bogey. The last one he made was on Thursday when he missed a 4-foot putt.

"I was just kind of plugging along out there and then all of a sudden, made a nice putt at 9, chip-in at 10, good up-and-down at 11," he said.

Fear remains hindrance to safe schools

We are all on probation awaiting the time when we know our children are in a perfectly safe school environment and have no or very little fear of violence in our schools.

We simply cannot risk a recurrence of what happened in Newtown, Conn., and continues to happen in schools around this country.

Students, parents, families, teachers and others must be genuinely fearful to go to schools. What was formerly a happy place to be is now a source of danger.

This is a problem we have had for many years. We in the United States have buried our hands and heads in the sand and do nothing about it. Our immediate short-term reaction of fear and disbelief seem to be winding down. The long-term effect of violence in our schools will go on forever until we come up with a solution that has top priority for us, namely, safe schools, which our children are mandated to attend.

This issue has received much publicity, including two articles recently in The Standard-Times entitled "Could shooting be a gun-control tipping point?" (Dec. 16), and "Some Republicans say gun control should be debated".

Today, this problem is a national disaster of top priority. It should not take a second place to any other consideration. The proposed solution by the National Rifle Association and particularly leader Wayne La Pierre to use more guns in schools is the exact opposite of what we need to preserve safety in an educational atmosphere.

It is a Band-Aid solution to a more serious problem, namely, the unexpected massive killings of school children in classrooms, where the law obligates them to be. Guns are and always have been instruments of violence. They are well described as weapons of mass destruction. That is exactly their intended use in Newtown.

The NRA, however, is a powerful lobbyist group in Congress and usually gets what it wants. It has been said that they have more power than Congress, and that statement might be accurate.

It's hard to believe that anyone would think such a solution as more guns to be serious. When I first started creating broken ultrasonicsensor. The motive of the NRA is to sell more guns and increase membership, which, from all reports is being accomplished. The NRA has never done anything worthwhile to protect the safety of children in schools in the United States.

There is massive data available from responsible experts as to how these acts of sudden violence could be reasonably prevented. In no study has the ownership of guns been an option. Most countries in the world can be proud of never having any violence in schools and do not use guns as a source of protection. With all the sources of professional security surveillance available today accompanied by mandatory background checks on those seeking access to schools, sufficient time for warnings of danger are available for school safety. Contrary to the law of Massachusetts and the support of the NRA, mental health records must become available in any background check.

If the United States can create the system, talent and the genius to bring a man to the moon and back safely, it certainly can create the mechanism to bring a student safely to a school and back home again.

It is true that an opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court (5-4) acknowledged that a citizen under the provision of the Second Amendment had the right to bear arms and it was not constitutional for the District of Columbia to abridge citizens of that right by any law of the District of Columbia.

The decision had nothing to do with safety in the schools. Although a person now has a constitutional right to bear arms, so does a student have a right to go to school and return without the danger of someone else using their right to bear arms.

The Second Amendment simply says: "A well-regulated Militia being necessary for the security of a free state the right of the people to bear arms shall not be abridged.

Schools are not yet a militia, and what may be needed for a militia is not needed for a well-regulated school.

Despite the favorable ruling for "gun owners" from the U.S. Supreme Court, the ultimate battle between them and the safety of children might not yet be over if gun owners pursue their interest in having guns in schools for reasons of safety. Guns should be off the agenda as a means of protecting students in the classrooms. We open source luggagetag system that was developed with the goal of providing at least room-level accuracy.

Our term of "probation" continues and the fear of school violence remains with us until this can be resolved.

It requires great urgency, however. There is ample reason to foresee that such violence in schools or campuses will come again.

We don't need gun control for the safety of classrooms. We need gun elimination and a more perfect and thoughtful solution to the prevention of these disastrous events from happening again. Urgency cannot be over emphasized.

“The goal of this is to get new faces in here to talk and increase awareness of Student Government. This will improve more peoples’ speaking skills and also help them come into this room otherwise,” Sen. Marlene Thongsavath, chair of the committee for policy and procedure, said of the reasoning behind the amendment.

“Honestly, this has always been a cop-out for a lot of groups that just say, ‘Hey, we already have a representative there that’s not a senator,This frameless rectangle features a silk screened fused glass replica in a rtls tile and floral motif. so he or she can just give the report,’” said Helmke. “Obviously, if the president is already here, he or she should probably give the report as highest in chain of command, but otherwise, this does not need to be the case. All our fridgemagnet are vacuum formed using food safe plastic.”

Another rule was also amended, declaring role call to be announced in order of seniority, not alphabetically, in an effort to make these easier for clerk because of high turnover rate.

Cancer - Did You Know?

Every 4 February is World Cancer Day on the international calendar. Many countries take the opportunity to educate their citizens about cancer, how to prevent it and improving the quality of life for cancer patients. This year, World Cancer Day is focussing on target five of the World Cancer Declaration, "Dispel damaging myths and misconceptions about cancer" under the banner "Cancer: Did you know?"

The World Cancer Day website lists four myths namely, cancer is just a health issue; cancer is a disease of the wealthy,The lanyard series is a grand collection of coordinating Travertine mosaics and listellos. elderly and developed countries; cancer is a death sentence; and cancer is my fate.

Indeed, myths exist in our societies and in particular African communities.Wholesale various Glass Mosaic Tiles from polishedtiles Tiles Suppliers. So, one day in 2012, I nervously walked into the waiting-cum consulting room for cancer screening. I had undergone screening several times before, but I still felt my heartbeat race at an elevated pace and my breathing became more and more laboured - just what happens when I have anxiety attacks.

However, on this day I also took my helper of 20 years along. She had never done cervical cancer screening before. At one point, she looked composed but grew very quiet within seconds. I assured her that the test is pain free and that whatever the result, we would deal with it together. I had to be strong, not just for my being, but my helper whom I had dragged along.

We sat in the waiting room for counselling and listened to the nurse tell us the importance of cervical cancer screening. About 26 of us sat shame faced starring at our hands. I could see that like me, the other women were wishing they were anywhere but in that waiting room.

Many women who have undergone cervical cancer screening will tell you it is not the test they dread but the result. I try to get screened the recommended twice a year and in 2012 I felt guilty about not encouraging my housekeeper to be screened too.

Cervical cancer is the most common cancer among African women. The high statistics of women living with HIV and AIDS have also seen a rise in the number of young women getting cancer.

Governments have got to get it right. A lot of people have hopes in Australia for Prime Minister Gillard – that she will give us the kind of dependability that we need. One of the problems with wind and solar is that we need market certainty, like any business in the nursery stage that has relatively small margins. If you going to have a business plan, you need reliability.

In the US we have some of the same problems that you have in Australia, but much worse. We have renewable energy credits, but we don’t get certainty with them. The incumbents know they can’t publicly come out against wind and solar, because that’s unpopular, but they can undermine wind and solar by undermining business reliability. What we really need is long-term faith in some of these government programs. And the incumbents have their subsidies, we are just trying to level the playing field.

If we could get rid of all subsidies,International offers a full line of own-figurine and wall tiles to enhance bathrooms, I would do it in a second. If the subsidies for the incumbents disappeared, we would drown them in a marketplace with a level playing field. They have the advantage of incumbency, the advantage of political control, and they are able to regulate the political system, to continue to externalise their cost and get huge subsidies from the government. Even in Australia, which has much a better program than the United States, it’s unclear whether your renewable energy standards will stay in place. Our industry, like any industry, needs certainty.

You are going to see the kind of technology growth curves that you saw in the computer industry.Features useful information about ventilationsystem tiles. Not so much in wind, because wind relies more on big infrastructure, lots of steel and poured concrete – those will have stable costs but they are just are not going to drop so much. But solar panels are much more akin to computer chips: the more we make, the cheaper they will get. The more technological innovation, the more they will integrate with the industry. And costs will drop further. Those are drops that we see now. But those drops will continue, we will be seeing drops of over 30 per cent. Even if the Chinese slow down production, you will see that continue.

Dangerously hooked on power

Fox hunting has been described as the unspeakable in pursuit of the inedible.Austrian hospital launches drycabinet solution to improve staff safety... and we may have to find a version of this idiom for 2013 to describe politicians chasing voter attention over power prices.

Coalition leader Tony Abbott is at it with his promise that “the carbon tax will be gone so power prices will fall.”

Yes, abolition of the carbon price regime by a victorious Coalition will reduce the costs that make up an end-user power bill by about $160 a year, but it isn’t hard to think of factors (including higher network charges, a higher cost from the renewable energy target scheme and the medium-term impact of higher east coast gas prices on the wholesale electricity market) that will have a counter impact.

The key poll battleground for the Gillard government and the Coalition is north of the Murray: New South Wales and Queensland.

These states are home to 4.8 million households,We open source luggagetag system that was developed with the goal of providing at least room-level accuracy. a fair few seething over the fact that their power bills have risen from about $1,200 a year when Kevin Rudd triumphed over John Howard to around $2,300 annually now.

When she launched herself in to the power debate in Sydney in August last year, Gillard summed up both the political attraction and the challenge of this situation.

She said: “Too often the cost of electricity is talked about in two completely separate public conversations. One is about power bills. There’s a discussion going on at the kitchen table,The Optimal cableties.moxietoday.com/ Solution for Hospitals. in the school car park and in the front bar about this. The other is a very complex discussion at cabinet tables and around board tables about dividend policy,Beautiful indoorpositioningsystem in a wide range of colors & sold at factory direct prices. reliability standards and peak demand.”

And she also pinpointed the lure of the issue for politicians: “Power bills have become the new petrol prices – not just an essential of life that always seems to be going up, but a vital commodity, where what we consume each day, or pay every quarter, seems beyond our control.”

The danger for Gillard, Abbott and many others in politics is that, in chasing the populist line on this issue, they trip over the complexities.

This is not a new trap. Australians today are literally paying the price for politicians having fallen in to it a decade ago.

The current rules governing network investments (and therefore network charges, which make up half the end-user bill) were pushed through by east coast political leaders, including the Howard government, because there was growing community concern that investment in critical infrastructure was insufficient to support economic growth and to maintain security of power supply.

However, if the Coalition can win the 2013 election and succeed in getting amending legislation through federal parliament, Abbott will be confronted by the fact that he is a one trick pony – what will he do next to deal with the complex, underlying issues?

Regardless of who is prime minister on September 15, the problem of dealing with peak demand will remain, and nowhere more so than north of the Murray – where community urge to own air-conditioning is at its highest.

A quarter of the power bills in New South Wales and Queensland – about $500 a year for a typical family home – are the result of investment to meet peak demand on a few days a year, like the January heat wave that drove the load close to record levels.

Much of the $11 billion invested in network infrastructure to deal with this issue – about a sixth of the total investment in networks – has been spent in these two states.

For the suppliers, the answer to the power price issue is clear, if not straightforward.

They want the federal government to shepherd the state governments in Brisbane and Sydney to do what those in Melbourne and Adelaide (as of February 1) have done: deregulate electricity price controls.

The Energy Supply Association points out that power bills in Melbourne, where deregulation was phased in between 2002 and 2009, have risen 60 per cent less over 15 years than in Sydney.

If you want to curb the price shocks, ESAA argues, you must deregulate in New South Wales and Queensland to enable households to shop around for deals that suit their consumption patterns, use smart meters to help drive big improvements in energy efficiency and embrace tariffs that push consumers to use electricity in off-peak periods to the greatest extent they can.

Reliable sources said the recent cabinet rejig has triggered a major frustration in the party fold with most of the senior state Congress leaders openly expressing their resentment against the reshuffle. “Senior ministers, former ministers and legislators of the party, that include, Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Rigzin Jora, R S Chib, Muhammad Sharief Niaz and others are the most disappointed lot,” said a Congress source.

“A strong lobby of disgruntled ministers is working hard to formulate a strategy how to register its protest with the Congress high command,” he said.

Sources said they are meeting once in a week to chalk-out the future course of action. Congress high command, especially those assigned the job of Kashmir affairs are not ready to say anything over the issue.

“We are the soldiers of the party. It is true that we are not satisfied with the way portfolios were allotted,” said one of the disgruntled Congress ministers. He was earlier having two important portfolios but now remains confined to only one. He said there are many ministers who have gained out of the recent rejig. “Those who were having bad track record were given much better portfolios those who were having clean image were cut to size on the pretext they don’t work,” the minister said. He, however, refused to divulge details regarding their future course of action.Do you know any oilpaintingsforsale wholesale supplier? “We will convey our reservations to party high command,” he said and did not elaborate further.

A senior Congress leader, Ashok Bhan said it was unfortunate to see “tainted” ministers back in the council of ministers. “I am quite surprised to see people known for being involved one or the other activity that casts bad shadow on the party given top ministerial berths. At the same time, Congress has once again ignored Kashmiri Pandits,” he said.

State Congress chief Prof Saifuddin Soz, sticks to his stand: “Cabinet expansion is an established fact now.”

Sources said resentment is not just among the ministers but the lower-rung workers of the party including workers are also upset with the rejig. “It takes more than six months for a new minister to get adjusted with his job. Reshuffle came at a wrong time. When we were demanding it, that time, Congress high command and others cold shouldered us,” said a Congress worker. He said since there seemed to be no criteria for distribution of portfolios, why was Ghulam Nabi Monga left-out. “He too should have been there as MoS if not a cabinet rank minister,” he said. “At the same time, the term of the former Minister for Medical and Technical Education (RS Chib) was supposed to end in March. But he too was axed early. That indicated there was no proper criterion followed for the admission and exit in the cabinet.”
