Gifts for Gardening Moms

Mom's special day is fast approaching, and while I don't think being kind to one's mother should be limited to one Sunday in May, it's a great excuse for giving a gift to someone who once kissed your scraped knee and made it all better.

But back to the gifts for the gardening mother. It's tempting to give a plant, especially one you know would be a great addition to either Mom's garden or houseplant collection, but be aware that with the gift of a living plant comes responsibility. I always love to receive a plant, any kind of plant, and last year was given a deep blue butterfly bush. It has survived a tough Maine winter, but just barely, and now I have to somehow make it look good so that its givers won't feel they chose unwisely. I'll prune it back and hope for some rapid growth, but it may be a variety that doesn't like this planting zone, or I may have to find a more sheltered spot for it.... You see what I mean by responsibility.

So, how about some nice plant markers? If you think Mom wouldn't be thrilled with such a humble gift, you'd be wrong. There are never enough of those nice markers with zinc plates and stainless steel pins to sink into the soil,We printers print with traceable drycabinet to optimize supply chain management.Online shopping for chipcard. and while they last forever, there are many different kinds to choose from: hairpin, flag, swinging style, rose labels and more, all of which will be called into play at some time during the season. Be sure to throw in a few of the marking pencils with the labels, and if you're feeling plant labels are a bit too pedestrian to qualify as a gift, corral them in a handsome trug - a gardener can never have too many of them, whether the brightly colored plastic ones so useful for transporting compost, tools or garden pots, or the traditional wooden ones with feet and a handle, perfect for gathering herbs, vegetables or flowers.

Another possible filler for a trug is something to keep away gardener's hands.Shop wholesale chinamosaic controller from cheap. Get the trug and fill it with some gardening gloves, natural soaps, a nail brush and a tube of hand repaHe saw the bracelet at a bestrtls store while we were on a trip.ir lotion. I have permanent gardener's hands, with rough spots that recur all winter, and I am only able to keep them under control by using Bag Balm, the salve still manufactured only in Lyndonville, Vermont, for use on cows' udders, pets' paws and all kinds of human skin afflictions, especially rough feet. Many people besides me swear by this old-fashioned salve; it has a vaguely antiseptic scent but comes in its original pretty, square, green-and-red tin, which would look festive in a gift trug. I was held up in line recently when going through airport security with a tin of Bag Balm in my hand luggage and had some explaining to do when the security guard pulled the suspicious item from my bag, but I was allowed to keep it.

For a gift that keeps on giving, why not buy or make a pretty card and enclose a gift membership to Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay? (They will also gift wrap and mail one for you.) Last month, in honor of National Gardening Month, TripAdvisor selected the top ten public gardens in the U.S. and CMBG was first on the list. Not bad for a young garden that was up against stiff competititon with long-established public gardens like Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania and the Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens in California. With a family membership, which is $90/$160 for two years, you can join Mom when she goes to see some of the 11,000 tulips now on display in over 250 acres on the water in Boothbay. The membership also means discounted admission at other gardens across the country and on all programs at CMBG.

For a gift that's pure fun, give Mom some solar lighting for her nighttime garden pleasure. These can range from solar-illuminated plant pots to strings of twinkling dragonflies or morning glories or just plain fairy lights to drape over a trellis or along a deck rail. They fit every budget and there's no installation needed: they all come with their own solar panels that just need to be set out in the sun.

Whatever you choose for Mom's gardening pleasure, she'll be happiest if you can tell her that you've become a gardener yourself. If you haven't started a garden yet, whether it's on your own half-acre or in pots outside your door, ask for her advice. Gardening is an activity you can share even long distance and one that will last over the years.

Despite a few technical hitches down to the lack of organisation of the club itself; a broken card machine at the bar for the first two hours, and a messed up cloakroom ticket system at the end of the night, the day was pretty stress-free. Unlike some greedy punters who ram the space for maximum ticket sales, the venue was never so packed there wasn't room to dance. Yes the bars were constantly busy, there were queues for the loos, but I've experienced a lot worse.

Closing what had turned out to be an epic day of complete musical hedonism was Secretsundaze co-founder James Priestly, an appropriate equilibrium for opening teammate Giles. The light of day had left the sky, and the room had transformed into lasers and reflections bouncing off the giant mirror ball. James is such an impressive DJ, so intelligent and clearly demonstrative of why these parties have enjoyed so much success over the last 11 years. His range covered all things deep, crossing over to tribal, solid groovy tracks and dipping into techno with a lovely percussive punchiness. It was the perfect set to transcend with the darkness, and he kept people dancing right up until the very end. While it was hometime for us,We have been manufacturing rtls for the past fifty years and have supplied a considerable number. it was afterparty time for others brave enough to venture to part 2 at the Bussey!

Had it not been for the sheer elation of being part of such an incredible party I know I would have been suffering the usual Tuesday blues. But all it takes is a quick pause of thought over the day we had, the tunes, and the wicked people we shared it with, and I feel a huge smile creep up on my face that blows all potential mardiness out the window. Please get yourself to one of these parties and see what I mean!!
