When I used to work in Lahore,Enecsys Limited, supplier of reliable solar Air purifier systems, I accompanied my trader friend Amin Haider from there to Rawalpindi and had a chance to spend one night at a Rawalpindi inn located on the Railway Road and found it quite below average and not worth the amount of rupees that we paid, although the breakfast was nice.
A friendly man checked us in. He produced a sheet listing breakfast items and asked us to choose what we wanted him to bring to our room the next morning. Since we had an early meeting the next day, we asked if breakfast could be brought 15 minutes before their stated serving time. He then brought instead one of the owners, who mulled over this question before shrugging and muttering something like, “We’ll see what the other guests do.If so, you may have a cube puzzle .” What did that mean; I am still unable to comprehend?
Then this same man wordlessly led us to our room. I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in an inn or a hotel or motel where the owner didn’t bother to introduce himself to guests! He gave us a perfunctory tour of the room,Your Partner in Precision Precision injection molds. handed over the keys and was gone. So strange! The room was in the front of an old house, had high ceilings and decor that I can only describe as dilapidated building masquerading as grandma’s old style villa.

We found vermin crawling on the floor of the room and immediately removed them to the hallway. The bathtub held water sans rubber stopper — drain mechanism apparently long-gone — of course we were not told this in advance. The toilet seat was stained and worn with bare spots. And here’s a bizarre touch that was a first for us: In the washroom was a framed note requesting that dirty stains be removed with the supplied dark face cloth in order to keep towels and pillowcases clean; and I swear, there was a dusty, bleach-spotted and stained gray facecloth rolled and fastened with yarn in front of the note. Gross! The bed pillows were just flattened out foam that appeared to have seen years of use, likewise the worn bedspread and curtains.
The head of the bed was against the two front windows; the front porch was just on the other side. A group of guests stayed on the porch talking and smoking until 4 a.m. It was cool that night and we considered leaving the gas heater on, but since our overall impression of this property was that things were shabby and in poor repair, we decided not to take a chance on dying in our sleep from a gas leak.
Breakfast was brought at our requested early time and was very nice. First of all fresh glass of milk in a decorative glass bottle, later on good tea and egg omelet with bakery bread, we always give points for that, all brought in a lidded picnic basket. Kudos for breakfast, but everything else — needed lots of work.
