Simple with unique amenities

Not all houses need to feature enormous amounts of square footage and extensively revamped renovations. Sometimes a house can just be a simple,He saw the bracelet at a indoortracking store while we were on a trip. solid construction on an exquisite parcel of land, and that can be enough. The 54-year-old home at 11 Tokeneke Trail in Darien has housed just one family, but is now ready for the next chapter. The location is the part of town where trees have matured around some stately homes, versus those clear-cut areas where houses seem to have been placed on barren parcels and made to look livable with a perfunctory sprinkling of affordable shrubs.

In fact, the grounds at the house, which was built on a hilltop ledge, are terrific. At almost 2 acres, the south side contains a combination of lawn and trees, along with a koi pond, while the backyard features a Japanese-style garden. It's a quiet property with lots of privacy along with a slate patio. The north side of the building includes a long stretch of wide steps with an almost Art Deco-style banister, which descends to the left of the long driveway. You will see earcap , competitive price and first-class service.

The house features a retro-brick exterior, and is fronted by a Roman-style facade with Doric pillars at the end of a gradually climbing slate walkway, featuring two large old-fashioned lampposts.

In the entryway is a marble tile floor under a two-story-high ceiling with a crystal chandelier. To the right is a zigzag staircase, which leads to a second floor that is largely unnoticeable from outside. Straight ahead is a large sunken living room with a fireplace and a view out back by way of an extended space that constitutes a sort of attached sunroom, with generous windows and a separation from the main area. The living room is joined to a wet bar through a clever open servicing window. Floor-to-ceiling built-ins are part of a pass-through area that leads into the adjacent dining room, which also has a fireplace, a wood floor, and a similar -- albeit smaller -- extended sun area toward the back.

An attached breakfast area is met with a serving window from the main kitchen, and opens back into the entranceway. To the back of the kitchen is a delivery entrance hallway, which features lots of storage cabinets and a door beside the attached two-car garage.

To the right of the entryway are two of the bedrooms, including the master, along with an extra bathroom. There are lots of closets. The master bathroom features both a shower and a bidet. There's also a door out to a south side patio from the master, as well as a built-in wall safe.

Upstairs, the bedrooms have sufficient room and are clean and inviting. At either end of the upstairs are two large walk-in attic areas, which seem to be begging to be pushed up and made into livable space. The basement is unfinished and not too large, but features a half-bath and sufficient storage -- another potential point for some changes when the next family comes to call this place home.

From the front of this quintessential 17th-century Dutch home looking across its canal, the Prinsengracht you can see the Anne Frank House and the crowned spire of the 1620 Westerkerk bell tower. A 12-room building with landmark status, it was renovated and restored more than a decade ago. It has a new foundation, original wide floorboards and ceiling beams, and two fireplaces with large antique tile surrounds.

Through the front door is a large entrance hall with an Italian marble floor. It connects with a hallway running along the left side to the kitchen, which is tiled in ceramic with a radiant-heated floor, white wood cabinetry, granite countertops, an oversized range and a breakfast area.

To the right of the entry hall is a parlor with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the canal. (Some corners of the room are sharply angled, to accommodate a bend in the canal.) Farther back is a vestibule housing the central staircase, beyond which is the formal dining room, which has an ornate ceiling medallion and decorative trim.

One flight up, the master suite has its own marble bathroom with a shower. Adjacent is a sitting room with a floor-to-ceiling 17th-century fireplace, wide planked floors and three tall windows with canal views. The second level up has another living room with a fireplace, illuminated by another trio of tall windows. Two bedrooms are to the back.

To the front of the house on the third level up is a large antique-style bathroom with a mosaic tile floor, sloped wood-paneled walls, a claw-foot tub, a marble-topped double vanity, a walk-in shower with two shower heads and a wall of wooden wardrobes. To the rear is a library with a vaulted ceiling and a loft accessible via a ladder.

A lower level, partially below grade and opening onto the brick-walled garden, has a second kitchen,A card with an embedded IC (Integrated Circuit) is called an parkingmanagement. a bedroom, a bath and laundry facilities. A few steps down from that is a garden room with a patterned stone floor that continues outside, beyond French doors, to cover the garden terrace.
