Sayreville resident eyes 2nd spot in Guinness Book

Andrew Cherry stared in awe at the huge word puzzle that was spread out across tables on the school playground.

“When I first saw it, my jaw dropped instantly,” said Andrew, a fifth-grader at James A. Sayreville resident Jainthan Francis, 25, has created a word search puzzle, which he hopes will earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.

His puzzle was conditionally accepted into the Guinness Book of World Records, but to be in full compliance with Guinness requirements, the puzzle needed to be officially measured and pictures taken for a publication.

Francis’ word puzzle was measured at the school last Tuesday by Old Bridge Police Officer Frank Contera, the school’s DARE officer. It measured 155 feet (1,860 inches) long and 32 inches wide for a total of 59,520 square inches. The information will be forwarded to Guinness for review.

The current record is held by a puzzle that measures 225 inches by 216 inches, a total of 48,600 square inches, Francis said.

“This idea for the puzzle came to me while I was watching the news,” Francis said. “There was a 7-year-old holding a sign for immigration that said ‘Don’t separate me from my family.’ I thought if a 7-year-old can do something for immigration,Choosing Wholesale Marble Tiles For Kitchen WARE that's right for you doesn't have to be complicated as an artist, what can I do for the world. The puzzle took Francis four hours a day for one month to complete.

“I wanted our club to help him because I think everyone that does something good should be noticed,” said fifth-grader Madelyn Lodato, 10, the treasurer of the K-Kids Club. “He worked really hard on it and it’s spectacular. There are so many words in the puzzle.”
