Prosecutors produce piles of receipts in Romulus cop corruption case

The preliminary examination kicked off Monday for the city's former police chief and five officers of a special investigation unit accused of using more than $100,000 in drug forfeiture funds on drugs, alcohol and prostitutes as well as trips and a tanning salon for the chief's wife.

Others charged are detectives Richard Balzer, Richard Landry, Donald Hopkins, Jeremy Channells; and Larry Droege. On Monday, Clay testified St. Andre had requested $35,000 in drug forfeiture funds from the city from March 2011 to September when he resigned his post.

Clay also told Dakmak that she didn't know the inner-workings of the special unit and could not point to anything fraudulent in the receipts and expense forms submitted.

Michigan State Police began investigation the alleged misconduct in 2009 after being tipped off by a high-ranking police official.

The officers investigated liquor violations and alleged prostitution and narcotics trafficking at the Landing Strip in Romulus and Subi's Place in Southgate. That investigation was hidden from the unit supervisor, prosecutors said.

St. Andre allegedly spent $75,000 from the forfeiture fund on the purchase and operation of a Westland tanning salon run by his wife.

Giving up a part of your body is an extreme measure. Ralston and Metz did so in order to survive. What was the Chinese teen thinking? Has an iPhone and an iPad become synonymous with "life"?

Maybe "life" is too drastic a word. This teenager was willing to give up something he thought he really didn't need in order to obtain something he thought he really, really did need. Maybe teenagers are just like that. After all, according to a recent study, 53 percent of young people (age 16-22) said they'd rather give up their sense of smell than their social networks, the very thing you access over iPhones and iPads. At this point, it's smell and kidneys. How long before they're willing to give right arms?

All of this got me to thinking about my own definition of "survival" and what things of value I've been willing to give up for my use of technology. I haven't given up hands or arms or kidneys, but I have given up valuable things. So, in some ways, my answer is no less disturbing than theirs.

Hi, everyone, this is Russell Bennett from UCStrategies. Today I’m hosting a podcast on the session border control market, which is under fairly significant transformation. This is a very large and complex topic and we can probably talk for hours on this, each of us. However, the piece of news that’s brought this to the forefront this week is the announcement that Avaya is acquiring Sipera, which is a security and SBC company. So what this actually means is that now all the leaders of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for UC have their own SBC technology: Microsoft, Cisco, Siemens, Avaya and Alcatel-Lucent. And some of the kind of secondary and tertiary players also have a security element.

So clearly, this is an admission that session border control or network edge security is critical for UC, and this raises just a host of points that we’re going to try and cover today. I’d like to call first on Marty Parker.

The internet really is a disappointingly wild place from the view of security and behavior, so having said that bit of indignation, I’ll just go on to say therefore they are necessary. So most enterprises are finding, and recommendations from their IP telephony providers, that they should install a session border controller. It’s seen really as part of the network infrastructure. The application, the IP PBX is delivering voice and media and signaling into the network, in through switches, in through routers, and then if it wants to go out through the edge it will use a session border controller for that interface – products like the Cisco Unified Border Element, the Cube and products like that are well known. As Russell said, everybody in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for UC has them. Also, the leaders in the corporate telephony magic quadrant all have it.

Since we have them, the big question is how is that market going to evolve? And clearly what’s happening is that SBC functionality, the denial of service protections, the man-in-the-middle protections, the hidden protocol protections, all of those sorts of things are being done by very fast software.ceramic Floor tiles for the medical, And they will over time be built into other products, whether it’s routers or it’s PBX gateway products, we’re going to see those built in. And then over time we’ll see another shift because in the end a SIP session or a connection to the internet should be part of, and most enterprises want it to be part of their integrated threat management. Because every enterprise of any size has some version of a threat management program for everything I’ve said about real time communications as well as all the non-real time communications. It’s going to be a very rapidly developing world, I think, because software has that tendency. Kedua pabrik ini merupkan dua dari empat pabrik yang sedang diperiksa Polres Bandung karena diduga membuang limbahnya ke Sungai Citarum. Dua pabrik lainnya adalah PT TMJ dan PT WIS.

Menurut Agus, BPLH mendatangi PT IBM dan PT HM untuk melakukan pemeriksaan serta mengambil sampel limbah pabrik. "Kami sudah mendatangi dua pabrik tersebut untuk mengambil sampel dan mengecek IPAL. Ternyata mereka mempunyai IPAL," jelasnya.

Agus mengungkapkan, pemeriksaan langsung ke pabrik sekaligus untuk membantu kepolisian yang sedang memeriksa empat pabrik yang diduga membuang limbahnya ke Sungai Citarum. "Kami mengambil sampel dan akan diteliti, kami membantu kepolisian dari aspek teknis kalau memang dibutuhkan dan kami siap membantu kepolisian mengenai masalah ini,This patent infringement case relates to retractable syringe needle ," paparnya.

Selain ke PT IMB dan PT HM, BPLH juga akan mendatangi dua pabrik lainnya, yaitu PT TMJ dan PT WIS. Kedua pabrik ini sudah didatangi kepolisian untuk keperluan penyelidikan.

"Paling kami memberikan surat teguran serta sanksi administrasi. Kalau untuk pencabutan izin usaha akan lebih berat karena harus dipikirkan semuanya," katanya.

Agus menyadari, sanksi kepada pengusaha belum bisa diterapkan sepenuhnya. Oleh karenanya, Agus berharap pencemaran lingkungan akibat limbah pabrik dapat ditekan seminim mungkin. Peran serta masyarakat dalam hal ini sangat diperlukan.

"Kalau masyarakat melihat ada pabrik yang melakukan pelanggaran dengan membuang limbahnya ke sungai, segera laporkan kepada kami," katanya.

Sementara itu, sebelumnya diberitakan, Polres Bandung berhasil mengungkap empat pabrik di Majalaya yang membuang limbahnya ke Sungai Citarum. Pabrik tersebut adalah PT HM, PT TMJ, PT IBM, dan PT WIS.
