Push on to get rid of Styrofoam

Styrofoam continues to be targeted for bans in the county as yet another city will consider forbidding restaurants from using the food service containers for take-out orders.

The Foster City Council will consider a ban on Styrofoam, known also as polystyrene, that mirrors a recently passed county ordinance.

While some on the council say the ban should be enacted immediately, others say the impact to businesses should be considered first. What to consider before you buy Wholesale pet supplies.

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors recently passed an ordinance banning the use of all polystyrene-based take-out containers in retail food establishments in the unincorporated areas of the county.

The ordinance went into effect July 1 and requires all retail food establishments to use only compostable containers.

The Board of Supervisors has urged all cities in the county to adopt identical ordinances for the purposes of consistency. In cities where the identical ordinance is adopted, county restaurant inspectors would enforce the city ordinance.

In San Mateo County, there are five cities that have existing polystyrene or Styrofoam bans ¡ª Burlingame, San Bruno, Pacifica, South San Francisco and Millbrae.

Belmont and San Carlos are also currently considering such a ban.

In February 2009, the Foster City's Environmental Sustainability Task Force recommended that the city consider banning both plastic bags and polystyrene products.

Councilwoman Pam Frisella sat on the task force at the time and would like to see the ban take effect sooner rather than later.

"Why wait to analyze it. It will be done eventually," Frisella said. "We should make a decision and approve it now. I'm all for it.The Leading promotional usb Distributor to Independent Pet Retailers."

Critics of polystyrene say it is a large component of litter and is hazardous to marine life when it enters waterways. It is also non-recyclable, non-biodegradable and not reusable.Welcome to the official Facebook Page about RUBBER MATS. There is also some evidence that the chemicals used to make polystyrene can be hazardous to human health.

Polystyrene products, however, are widely used in food establishments because they are inexpensive, lightweight, moisture-resistant and an effective insulator.

Some say,For all DVS Bedding in PDF format. however, that banning polystyrene places an undue financial hardship on small restaurants by requiring them to switch to more expensive products.

For this reason, Councilman Charles Bronitsky would rather weigh the impacts to restaurants in Foster City before approving such a ban.

Genius hybrid heatsink fan can make your computer run faster

Most computers deal with heat the same way: there's a heat sink (a big radiator) attached to the processor, and a fan that blows air over it. Combining these two things into a heat sink that spins is a brilliant new idea that will make your entire computer cleaner, faster and more efficient.

The problem with traditional heat sinks (the big copper finned things that you probably have inside your computer right now) is that while all that surface area is fine for transferring heat away from the processor, a layer of air clings to the fins, acting as in insulator. To compensate, you can crank the fan up to move more air,For all DVS Bedding in PDF format.GreenRay's hydraulic hose design uses a different energy storage approach, but that's noisy and annoying and wastes energy. And since the heat sink itself doesn't move, those fins become a great place for dust to collect, which just makes everything worse.

Jeff Koplow, a researcher at Sandia National Laboratories,Welcome to the official Facebook Page about RUBBER MATS. has developed an "air bearing heat exchanger," which is just a fancy way of saying that he took a heat sink and a fan and turned them into the same thing:

The heat exchanger is separated from the processor by a mere thousandth of an inch, and as the exchanger spins, it forces air outwards from the center, cooling the fins and eliminating that pesky insulating boundary layer. This page list Projector Lamp products with details & specifications. This is so efficient that it can be run at very low (and quiet) speeds, and it even lets you kick your processor up a notch or two without overheating. Oh, and did we mention that the moving heat sink is immune to dust? 'Cause it is.

As you can see from the pic, there's a prototype of this thing in existence,The Leading promotional usb Distributor to Independent Pet Retailers. and it doesn't incorporate any fancy electronics or precious metals, just good design. Hopefully, this means that it'll be cheaply mass-producible and available on the market soon, although it can't possibly be soon enough.

BD ekes out partial win in retractables case

One front of a long-running war pitting Retractable Technologies Inc. (AMEX:RVP) against industry giants like Becton, Dickinson & Co. (NYSE:BDX) and the group purchasing organizations that dominate the hospital supplies market ended with a partial win for BD.

A federal appeals court overturned part of a $5 million patent infringement verdict against BD and its Integra retractable syringe line. The U.S Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit ruled that BD's 3ml version of the device doesn't violate the RTI patents, but upheld a finding that the 1ml version does infringe.

Because BD dropped the smaller syringe, "there is no impact to our customers," BD spokeswoman Liz Ryan Sax told Bloomberg. This page list Projector Lamp products with details & specifications.

Little Elm, Texas-based Retractable sued BD in June 2007, claiming the Becton syringes infringe patents covering its VanishPoint devices. But RTI's battle began in the early 1990s, when founder Thomas Shaw invented the first retractable syringe after seeing a news program about a doctor who contracted HIV from an accidental needle stick.

Large medical device makers and the GPOs that act as sales liaisons between them and hospitals effectively kept the RTI syringes off the market until the device makers could come up with competing devices, according to a series of lawsuits Shaw and RTI have filed over the years.GreenRay's hydraulic hose design uses a different energy storage approach, In fact, the Federal Circuit decision could bolster another RTI lawsuit accusing BD of anti-trust violations,For all DVS Bedding in PDF format. the company told Bloomberg.Welcome to the official Facebook Page about RUBBER MATS.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer review

Tablets are popping up everywhere, with manufacturers trying to turn some of the success of Apple¡¯s iPad into their own. Android has helped this along with Honeycomb, their tablet-specific version of Android, and many manufacturers have rallied around it.

This has resulted in quite a few Honeycomb tablets from makers such as Motorola, Samsung, Acer and of course, the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer.

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer comes in at a recommended retail price of R4,299 for the 16GB model and R5,Welcome to the official Facebook Page about RUBBER MATS.199 for the 32GB model. The separately purchased dock is priced at R1,A plastic card is a bottle created from glass.499.

The question is, what sets the ASUS apart, and is that enough?

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer is quite similar to other Honeycomb tablets in that it has a 10.This page list Projector Lamp products with details & specifications.1¡å, 1280¡Á800 capacitive touch screen powered by an NVIDIA Tegra 2 system on chip (SoC) with a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz.

The Muppets Take Queens

One of my earliest multiplex memories is of seeing my mother go batshit over Kermit the Frog. This was opening weekend of The Muppet Movie, June 1979, and the sight of a stuffed puppet blithely pedaling a two-wheeler made Mom howl as if she'd been goosed by Christ himself. Courtesy of old-fashioned trickery, and also magic.

It's been a long 32 years since that summer of the Muppets, and since the years immediately following in which Jim Henson, entrepreneur and artist, hustler and genius, man and felt frog, proved that the best visual effects involve physical objects in actual space. With CGI dating as quickly as it develops, and 3-D actively flattQuality air cube puzzle tools for any tough job.ening the imagination, it's a prime time for "Jim Henson's Fantastic World" to roll into town. Opening this weekend at the Museum of the Moving Image (and running, marathon-style, to January 2012), the installation and screening series, which was first presented at the Smithsonian, spans half a century of puppetry, television, film, music, comedy, pop culture, and marketing savvy.

The Muppet master was also an enterprising businessman, making bank in his early career as an ad man for the likes of IBM and Wilkins Coffee. His facility with commercialspithy message-making, instamatic caricaturing, and absurdist humorprepared him for everything that came after, and put him on the radar of the educators who hoped to sell literacy to short-attention-span preschoolers via Sesame Street. MOMI's exhibit places a special emphasis on process, highlighting preliminary models, sketches, and storyboards to paint a portrait of the artist as both visionary and pragmatic mogul, suggesting that this gentle Southern gent negotiated art and commerce as deftly and as unapologetically as a guyGreenRay's hydraulic hose design uses a different energy storage approach, named Walt Disney.

Yet unlike Disney, Henson remained an accomplished practitioner until his sudden death in 1990, directing for film and TV and always, ever, manhandling a puppet. His work also managed to at least seem subversivedefined as it was by snarky asides, boomer eclecticism, and shaggy-dog storytellingwhile appeasing a wide audience, making his career a brilliantly American conflation of family and radical values. His work championed order (Bert) and disorder (Ernie), individuality (Gonzo) and community (Fraggle Rock), fearless leadership (Kermit) and total freakiness (everyone else).Handmade Aion Kinah at museum quality, At the end of The Dark Crystal (1982), Henson's boldest and most transporting work, the self-sacrificial Mystics don't overcome the self-serving Skeksisinstead, they conjoin into one multifaceted, frightfully brilliant organism. It's that complexity, that acceptance of contradictory impulses and mixed emotionsslapstick and sentimentality,What are the top Cable Ties treatments? hugs and gong-slaps, music and noisethat truly aced Henson with children and adults alike.

That duality extends to Henson's unapologetically atypical pairings: Kermit and Piggy's interspecies romance; the moody camaraderie between that goy frog and Fozzie's Borscht Belt bear; and the same-sex domestic partnership of a banana-headed pigeon lover and orange-faced rubber-duckie fetishist. You can glean politics or autobiography from the subtextthe above pairings seem to signify a different facet of Henson's relationship with collaborator Frank Oz but Henson's true allegiance was to the spirit of show business, a term that neatly covers both sides of his working persona. Every episode of The Muppet Show was a backstage musicala show about the logistics of putting on a showas was The Muppet Movie and The Muppets Take Manhattan (1983). Even The Great Muppet Caper (1981), an odd sequel that was, pace the title,A plastic card is a bottle created from glass. more of a cheeky, stand-alone whodunit, begins with Kermit, Fozzie, and Gonzo casting themselves as characters in the story to follow.

Meta by winks, Henson treated the fourth wall like a welcome mat, letting the audience in on the joke while playfully interrogating the geometry of the viewing space. Before his focus turned to Sesame Street and eventually The Muppet Show, Henson explored the possibilities and implications of the boob tube via animation, live action, and documentary montage. For the NBC Experiments in Television series, he produced The Cube (1969), a dystopian comic nightmare about a man who can receive visitors but can't escapemuch like viewers at homea modular box. And in the metronomic Time Piece (1966), his Oscar-nominated live-action short (which the Museum will appropriately project on a loop through September), he used free-associative quick cuts for a deliriously mod riff on Dziga Vertov's industrial man, with the lanky Henson himself miming Icarus.

HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' a likely drama series nominee

When the Emmy nominations are announced Thursday morning, many TV pundits expect that HBO's "Boardwalk Empire" will land among the six nominees for drama, most likely putting the heat on AMC's "Mad Men," which was the first basic-cable series to win and has taken home the prize for the last three years. What is the difference between a Ripcurl and a 3rd party processor?

Scorsese's series won acclaim from critics and its odds were further bolstered after it took the top TV drama award at the Golden Globes earlier this year. "There's no doubt in my mind it's going to grab one of the six spots," said Matt Whitfield, the TV editor of Yahoo.

The drama field could also include another HBO series, the labyrinthine fantasy "Game of Thrones," which along with "Boardwalk Empire" and the vampire hit "True Blood" signal a series resurgence for the pay-cable outlet after years of near-misses such as "Hung" and outright duds like "John From Cincinnati." Oddsmakers say other shows that could crop up in the highly competitive category include AMC's zombie drama "The Walking Dead," CBS' legal show "The Good Wife" and the much-praised but little-watched NBC/DirecTV small-town drama "Friday Night Lights," which went off the air earlier this year.

"Lots of people thought HBO reached its peak with the end of 'The Sopranos,' 'Rome' and 'The Wire,'" said Paul Levinson, a pop-culture expert and professor at Fordham University. "The advent of 'Boardwalk Empire' and 'Game of Thrones' have vividly proven otherwise.

"'Boardwalk Empire's first season had storylines and acting as good as on 'The Sopranos,' and with the enhancement of historical, period-piece detail," Levinson added.
